BPF is a facilitating and leading NGO of an alliance of 5 NGOs that individually and collectively work with women’s’ groups throughout 4 states in India. Engaging with 12 women federations and around 15,000 women and girls, BPF focuses on issues of governance, livelihoods, women and girls’ rights & empowerment, education, and health.
The main advocacy priorities of BPF are increasing young girls’ access to credit and vocational training, fostering women’s empowerment and women’s federations for autonomy, and strengthening their voices. In addition to hosting peer learning sessions with local federations, the organization also has engaged globally by participating in and working with the UN-Habitat Anti-Corruption conferences, the 2016 Habitat III Conference, and the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
Because of BPF’s long-standing association with Huairou Commission (HC) and its members, the organization officially joined HC in 1996.
