Huairou’s statement at the Stakeholder Consultations on the Preparatory Process for the Summit of the Future 2023

Pauline Kariuki, Director of Rural Women Network, Kenya represented Huairou’s grassroots women’s constituency in the Stakeholder Consultations on the Preparatory Process for the Summit of the Future held on February 15th, 2023.

The high-level ‘Summit of the Future: Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’, proposed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres in his ‘Our Common Agenda’ report, is slated for 2024. It aims to forge a new global consensus on what our future should look like, and what we can do today to secure it.

The virtual Stakeholder Consultation was organised to outline the proposed roadmap for the Summit, and to give stakeholders the opportunity to share their views on the proposed roadmap and their expectations for the Summit of the Future.

Pauline, representing Huairou’s grassroots women’s constituency made a statement calling for grassroots women “to be formally recognized and represented as a key stakeholder to contribute to this important process and its outcome document.“
