Huairou at the APP-DRR Forum 2023

Huairou Commission participated in the Asia Pacific Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction (APP-DRR) Forum on September 20, 2023. This virtual event was attended by representatives of various Governments, UN Agencies, Global and Regional Institutions, Donor Agencies, and Civil Society Organisations working in the DRR space. The focus of the forum was to share and review the regional progress in disaster risk reduction, discuss key regional priorities in Asia-Pacific region and plan for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) 2024.

Debora Dian Utami, Director-Disaster Management from YAKKUM Emergency Unit, Indonesia presented the intervention on behalf on Huairou’s Community Practitioners Platform for Resilience (CPPR). The intervention called for accelerating and scaling up local implementation of the Sendai Framework for DRR by recognising, investing and partnering with grassroots women’s groups to promote community based disaster management.
