Sixty-first session of the Commission on the Status of Women

Monday to Friday, March 13-24

The 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in 2017 will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and has as its priority theme “Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work.” This includes such key issues as enabling macroeconomic environments, global gender gaps in work and employment, gendered pathways in the work sphere, care economy and (un)paid care and domestic work, violence at work, social protection, and trade unions.

Review theme: Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls (agreed conclusions of the fifty-eighth session)

Emerging issue/Focus area: The empowerment of indigenous women

 

Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are invited to attend the session.

 

Preregistration for NGOs in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is open through 27 January 2017. More information available here.
