A FAIR Feminist Food Future Visioning Workshop
Please join us for an exciting online space for us to come together and share, listen and vision together what a…FAIR Feminist Food Future will look like!
Concept: Our current inequitable global food system is unsustainable for both people and the planet. This broken system is rife with human right abuses and destruction of the environment, while making those running this flawed system even wealthier. Major food traders and supermarket retailers are raking in huge profits at the cost of the most vulnerable members of society. Even amongst these, women are hit hardest – earning the least while carrying the burden of providing for their families. At the same time, it is these women who are implementing innovative approaches and alternatives to current food systems as they try to adapt to the changing climate and society. The demand to collectively create a more equal food system is inevitable, now more than ever.
We will hear from incredibly inspiring activists during this session:
- Kumi Naidoo – South African social and climate justice activist
- Diana Lilia Trenilla Espinal – Mexican feminist agroecologist activist
We will have collective dialogue and visioning on what our FAIR and JUST Feminist Food Future will be, coordinated by Huairou Commission and Oxfam Novib.
